EGAL supports new investments in regional data centers
- Data center investments are accelerating in Eastern and Central Europe, supported by EGAL’s commitment to designing efficient and secure fibre and copper network infrastructure.
- EGAL presented passive network solutions for high-performance, secure and energy-efficient data centers at the Adria Security Summit, the region’s main event.
- Visitors were offered best practices from a number of large data centers from Eastern and Central Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia.
LJUBLJANA, SARAJEVO, 10 October 2024 – At the Adria Security Summit (https://adriasecuritysummit.com/), the main regional event in the field of commercial and cyber security, IoT, ICT, smart solutions, automation and mobility, the Slovenian company EGAL as a Gold Sponsor presented solutions for building efficient networks in data centers and smart infrastructure. As pointed out at the event by experts from EGAL and Panduit, a global leader in copper and fibre networking technologies, the region is facing a major challenge in delivering new processing capacity and renewing outdated network infrastructure, both in local data centers and service providers. EGAL showcased a selection of key solutions from Panduit, UCL Swift, AEM and Klein Tools for building secure and energy efficient passive networks, from network building materials and solutions for testing, to devices and tools for deploying and maintaining them.
EGAL participated in the region’s largest security event to showcase its business of designing and delivering solutions for passive networks in data centers. The solutions used in a number of large data centers in Southern and Eastern Europe and Central Asia support all the modern challenges of modern data centers, from energy efficiency and cyber security challenges to staff shortage issues.
According to Peter Süssinger, Business Director at EGAL, data center owners and operators are increasingly focusing on cybersecurity in the very design of the data center, where investments in a quality passive network play a key role. In particular, they want to improve resilience in the event of ransomware attacks, which means a rapid response in the event of a massive attack and effective mitigation.
The second parameter is the creation of data centers that are prepared for the increasing demands of artificial intelligence (AI). Digitalisation and AI are accelerating the demand for data center services. According to Grand View Research, a leading market research and consulting firm, the global use of AI is growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 40%. The global AI market was valued at $196.63 billion in 2023, and is thus expected to grow at a CAGR of 36.6% until 2030. European data center nameplate capacity reached 12.23 thousand MW in 2024 and is expected to reach 17.93 thousand MW in 2029, growing from $35.5 billion to $57.7 billion, at an average growth rate of 7.97%.
“Businesses alone do not have the resources to support all their modern IT support needs. Cloud computing and other data center service providers are therefore faced with new investments in premises and infrastructure, while at the same time having to continuously update their existing systems. In doing so, they are looking for technologies that allow them to work efficiently and, above all, reduce power consumption as a key cost in the data centre,” said Peter Süssinger.
EGAL sees events such as the Adria Security Summit as an important opportunity to share know-how and best practices. This year’s event in Sarajevo brought together more than 3,000 experts and over 160 exhibitors from more than 50 countries. The Western Balkans region, like Eastern and Central Europe, is an area of accelerated investment in data centers, with the value of investments in this part of Europe expected to more than double between 2023 and 2029, from $652 million to $1.334 billion, with an average annual growth rate of 12.7 percent.
“We would like to thank all our partners and organisers of the Adria Security Summit, and especially all visitors at our stand. We are looking forward to the next edition of the Adria Security Summit 2025, which will take place on 8 and 9 October 2025 in Skopje.”, concludes Una Süssinger, Managing Director of EGAL.
